Giovanni Sollima, I believe, might be the closest a person can be to my ideal cellist before myself. I can’t help but feel like I am personally involved in his music. He is more than a musical leader to me; I feel that I am a part of his music, or maybe that it is a part of me, and that its direction is a personal truth.

Anyway he is one of my favorite cellists and here is some of his music:
